no start ''low battery''
yep , tried to start the 2000 yesterday and it wouldn't . had a battery tender on it last 7 months which has always worked for at least last 13 years . wouldn't take a charge so this morning i took it to ''autozone'' and found it was bad . i'd bought it 20 june 2017 so replacement was free . it was/is a redtop battery and the one i replaced two years ago was a 13 year old redtop . glad it was so simple as i've read on here about having bad grounds folks have to hunt for . the battery that was bad was in car two years and 560 miles . . . .peace

Bad batteries happen; even new ones. I recently had to replace the Interstate battery that had been in my C5 coupe for just over 10 years. I had been using a Battery Tender Junior on the car when I didn't use it for extended periods of time.
IMHO, the two best battery tenders are the Deltran Battery Tenders (Junion and Plus) or the CTEK 3300.

Wow, 13 years out of a Red Top!!! I've never had much luck with the Red Top but have had great results with the Yellow Top.
Is your Battery Tender okay? I've had one go bad on me and it took out a battery.

Sometimes you just get a battery that fails way too soon. At least the replacement was under warranty.

In the C5 it was recommended by several GM engineers that battery voltage was critical to the electrical system. It seems when the battery goes below 12.5V it somehow causes problems in the communication between the PCM, BCM and the other computer systems in the car. There are three tests for battery condition you need be aware of. On is the basic battery voltage, another is Cold Cranking Voltage and the third is Reserve Capacity. GM recommends batteries with at least 120 RC for best results.

Was the comment necessary? Some of the worst spelling and grammar I've seen online are from 60+ year olds.
