Default Friday is National Drive Your Corvette to Work Day

This is just a reminder to my fellow C5 drivers about tomorrow. On June 30, 1953, the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line, and in honor of that anniversary, Friday this month is the day to drive yours to work.

Now, while this seems simple enough, some of you may still have questions, so I have compiled this handy list of Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I'm retired. What do I do?
A: Just drive it anywhere.

Q: I work at home, or I don't work on Friday.
A: See above.

Q: My Corvette is taken apart all in pieces. What do I do?
A: You are SOL.

Q: What if it rains, or the weather is bad?
A: See above. There is no rain date.

Q: Did you ever see that movie, Driving Miss Daisy?
A: No, but I don't think there was Corvette in that movie. Why would you even ask such a stupid question, you moron?

Q: I'm not a moron.
A: Yes, you are.

Q: Am not!
A: Are, too!

Well, that's all the time we have for your questions! Don't forget to drive tomorrow!

Driving mine to the shop for a big ol' job. Spherical bearings, oil cooler, oil pan trap doors, crank scraper, honker intake, catch can, etc. I hope that counts

Well, I suppose I can put it together enough to go for a spin to the bakery for a cookie. Might be a tad loud inside without the console or shift boots, but that's the price we pay.

I am retired from the Air Force, but I do contract work on base. I will drive my silver bullet to work. I drive it many days per week anyways. Can't let her sit.

Unfortunately I don't see that happening. My big cup filled with 22 oz of home brewed coffee rides to work with me every morning and we all know there is no cup holder in these cars.

Can’t drive mine where I work.

Some of my cell site are truck access only, but I’ll drive it when I get off.

I plan on driving mine tonight to a Classic Car Cruise In. I would have driven the 60 miles to my office but my motorcycle has been off the road for a few weeks (alternator repair) and I was having severe riding withdrawals, so I just HAD to ride in today.

Not the same as driving a Vette, I know. I know.

I'm retired now but here's a couple of pictures from Drive Your Corvette to Work Day in June of 2001. I was the transmitter chief of WKRC-TV.

Here's my '97 parked at the base of the TV tower:

And from 500 feet up the tower on TowerCam:

Even though the weather sux here in Iowa, thunder storms and big time wind, I'll take the 99 to work. It's dirty anyways, lol.
