I’m Back!
Hi everyone,
I used to hang around here a lot. I just wanted to reintroduce myself. I’ve had four Vettes over the years starting in 2001. Started with a 96 coupe, 2003 coupe, 2008 Z06 and a 2015 coupe. I always had manual transmissions and modified them with heads cam, etc. my wife was never into the Corvette lifestyle but went along for the ride. I was planning on selling my Vette and getting a travel trailer and truck when I retired.
Last year, I had a scare with my heart and spent the night in the ICU. It turned out to be nothing serious. I was over exercising by cycling too much and not replenishing my electrolytes. Before I knew all that, I sold my C7 and bought a truck and travel trailer. I thought I was done with Vettes.
After ten months and a healthy heart, I decided I had to have another Vette. I did a lot of thinking and decided I’d go a different route this time. Of all my Vettes, I loved the C5 the most. I decided to get a C5 convertible with an A4 transmission to get my wife interested. It worked!
I found a great deal on an 03 CE convertible with 37K miles. All stock except for an Alpine stereo. I bought a Z06 cat back exhaust and will probably install a cold air intake and get a tune. Other than that, I plan to leave it stock.
I need to polish some swirl marks out and put a good coat of wax or polish on it. I used to use Zaino. I’ve been reading a lot of good things about Meguiars ceramic wax. Any thoughts?
Also, the stereo doesn’t sound as good as it did in my C5 coupe. Are there less speakers in a convertible or is it the head unit? What do you recommend to clean and care for the convertible top.
Without further delay, here are a couple of pictures. I threw in one of the happy wife and dog with the travel trailer. 😊

C5 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Welcome back to the C5 family, Cozmo. If I could live anywhere in Texas, Kerrville is the place. My wife and I ride our trike down there, every year.
Beautiful 50th!

2015 C5 of the Year Winner
Great color choice and welcome back. Heart issues aren't very fun, I had a little scare about 2 months ago and turned out to be nothing also. Gives you a new perspective on life too.

It's encouraging to hear that you went from C7 back to C5. Since I have never driven a C7, I'm a little curious as to why people return to the C5, aside from price. I know the C5 is a good value.
