Default C5 Z06 Is an Insane Sports Car Bargain

Doug Demuro reviews the C5Z and claims it's the ultimate performance car bargain.
Pretty fair review, I mostly agree with it. He left out the most unusual quirk and feature and that is the ability to read the trouble codes thru the DIC. I feel like the value of my car just went up by at least 20 bucks

I have NO idea why Doug has almost 3 million subscribers. He has to be one of the most annoying automobile reviewers on the web. I suppose it is just me, but his voice and speech pattern drive me up a wall. And, his 24-minute video of one of the best performance car bargains on the planet features him spending 20 minutes telling us all about how 1990s the interior is---of a 1990s car. That alone is why I don't watch his channel. I hate wasting my time.

Was a little disappointed in his test drive. Usually he will put sports cars more through their paces, etc. He drove it like he was testing a 6-speed Accord.

I thought as you did and noticed the lack of trouble code mention. Overall, a fair review of a sure to be piece of automotive history. The car just needs to age a bit.

You wasted more of your time telling us about how watching his youtube channel is a waste of time.

Doug always drives the cars he reviews conservatively, and it's damn near impossible to tell anyways because his camera is pointing right at his face. So it goes.

I typed while I was eating and watching TV. Multi-tasking = not wasting time. So, there's that.

Yeah, he is kind of of annoying to listen to or watch. And yeah, I thought he did downgrade the points on his scoring of the interior and exterior appearance a little bit too far. However, his message to the masses that the C5Z is such a great sports car bargain can only help as he does have a
pretty big and wide ranging audience.

Anyone that owns a Z06 might agree but then there is reality about supply and demand effecting market prices.

Yea I watched this earlier. Decent review. I agreed with some things and disagreed with others. C5's are now 15 years old or older, the design has aged well and they still look great compared to modern day sports cars IMO. But he did make it a point to say the C5 Z06 is a great sports car bargain(which is true), he has millions of subscribers so they are gonna watch.

I just laughed because my first time being in a C5 Z06 was today, in the same color and year that Doug reviewed.

I didn't waste my time watching the video. But what you say totally resonates with me. What is the point of talking about a 20 year old car if you are not going to talk about the most important quality? Ridiculous. We've heard all of the complaints about the interior. Give me a break. Who cares? I bought mine, put maybe $1500 into it, at first , and nobody can touch the track performance with the exception of the C6s and C7s and GT3s. I mean phenomenal performance. At what 10/20/30% of the cost? For me this is why I own a C5z. Maybe those 3M subscribers don't care about that. I do. I won't be subscribing.

I’ve been a subscriber to Doug for over a year now, I rather enjoy his detail oriented eye. Don’t take it personally about the interior complaints, if he didn’t say anything it would be construed as him missing a detail that’s crucial to the Doug score. He does comment on design or quality defects on all cars. That said he gave the durability score a 6, which is very fair for a Doug score in terms of quality.

honestly I thought practicality was the only number he scored it too low on (have it a two but storage in a c5 I feel should have given it a 3)

that said his score of 57 as a fairly long time viewer of his is very high. He scores them against cars within that segment, however I can tell you that it’s not a great many cars that score 60+ for one reason or another.

if you don’t like his voice or style that’s one thing, but his scoring system is very fair, and his assessment is the C5 is dead on. He likes it, and for good reason, but complained about the same issues all of us C5 owners already know about. Of course this video isn’t for us though, it’s for those who would consider buying a c5. With his feedback here, it boosts awareness of great car that is easily overlooked and shouldn’t be.

He did us all a great service as c5 owners, I don’t understand all the hate.

thanks Doug! I enjoyed the video with big dumb smile on face. I’ve been long wishing that you would review the c5 Z.

Doug kinda annoys me too but I watch his videos anyway...I guess just because I really like cars. He's right, it is the ultimate performance bargain by a landslide. Nothing like seeing newer cars 2, 3 or even 4x the price in the mirrors at a track day. Every time.

If chevy had offered a really great interior option..would people have gone for it..look what it costs to really upgrade it..
I see people dropping 15k on interior upgrades..

I do think the interior lets down what is an otherwise great car. The giant steering wheel is my biggest complaint. I feel like I'm driving a bus, I wish Redline would hurry up with the smaller wheel they have been promising for nearly 2 years.

I never minded the interior, actually like it (radio/HVAC are ugly though), but then I was also used to my 95 C4. The gaps are there for when you have your panels covered with leather.

A somewhat fair review for the car and I would agree that it is a performance bargain.

My wife tells me to turn him off when I’m watching a video and she is around. His voice just grates on her.

Just the opposite here, my wife doesn’t even really care about cars, but when I watch a Doug video and she’s around she’ll sit down and watch it with me because he’s entertaining.
