Lifting handbrake won't open trunk when motor running
With the motor running you are supposedly able to open the trunk by lifting the handbrake. It does not work on my 2002 Z06 MT. The trunk opens normally with the fob and by pushing the trunk release button when the car is stopped. Is this a Corvette myth? Thanks.

My 2001 does this. With car running in neutral, pull up the handbrake all the way and press the button to open the back. Maybe your handbrake cable is stretched or needs adjustment. Or there is a sensor someplace out of whack.

Going back to what the OP is getting at, is this just a Z-06 (fixed roof with small trunk lid) thing, or supposed a hatch thing also? FWIW, my '01's hatch never opened by actuating the handbrake.

Engaging the handbrake does not open the hatch. However, if the car is running, you must engage the handbrake for the hatch release button on the left of the steering wheel to work ie open the hatch. I believe this is what the OP is referring to. It is this way on my 2001 coupe. I pretty sure it’s the same for frc and zo6.

I was just lifting the handbrake and not pushing the release button. I will try this next time I drive and give an update here. Thanks for the answers.

For example when you're at the airport picking up somebody, it's easier to just open the trunk to put suitcase with the motor running than having to turn off motor especially when there is a lot of traffic behind you waiting to pick up other passengers.

The wording in the tips and tricks is horrible for that.
What it should say is “when the engine is running, the trunk open button will only work when the handbrake is applied”
