think we should get antifreeze changed in vettes . one has been over 14 years and other more than 7 years . called for a price and was told somewhere over $150 each , does this sound normal for a price .?
Did mine myself after 5 years for about $25. Took about an hour which included a good system flush. I did replace the radiator drain plug at that time.
If your going to pay to have that done I recommend several points that should also be addressed
1. Backflush the heater core (gets sediment out which helps performance and helps prevent long term leaks)
2. Backflush the engine
3. Clean the radiator and condenser fins from debris (highly needed on C5's... even ones that don't get driven much)
4. Use dex-cool or a coolant that meets dex-cool specification.
5. Replace the de-gass (reservoir) cap
6. If the T-Stat looks corroded at all... I'd replace it too.
