Default Fixing minor windshield frame damage

Searching for this topic on the forums has lead me through A LOT of stuff "windshield" and "frame" related, but not a "windshield frame" related post. Has anyone ever fixed one that took a rock to a part of the windshield frame? The damage isn't major but, obviously, very noticeable. I was thinking of heating it up and bending it back into place the best I can, then file it down some, sand it, fill it in somehow, more sanding, and paint a small section of the windshield frame, maybe an inch, give or take. I'm not looking for perfect, I'm looking for good enough. She's a driver, not a show car. It looks way worse than it actually is because of the broken reveal molding trim and smashed windshield. I'm definitely not replacing the entire windshield frame myself or shoveling out several thousand to have it done, I'll part the car out before that happens. Just looking to hopefully find someone who unfortunately had theirs damaged and was able to fix it. thanks.

Looks serious enough to me. Try posting this over in Paint/Body (just link a thread there to this one) and see if any experts there can help you out.

With your picture being zoomed in, it shows the damage very well. Try adding a picture further away to help with the scale of the damage in relation to the car.

Pretty sure a comprehensive auto policy would cover that. Take it to a body shop, and have your insurance cover it.
