An overly aggressive car wash person snapped the tab off the rear window defroster connector. Has anyone dealt with this ? Will I have to replace the whole rear window ? Can it be glued back ?

They sell a special conductive glue for them, auto parts stores/dealers have it. There is conductive paint for the lines and conductive epoxy for the tab..

Had this same problem with my C4. Conductive epoxy is the ticket! It's expensive but works.

My rear window defogger hasn't worked in a couple of years. The tabs and connectors look secure - I looked for a fuse or relay, but the Owner's Manual shows no fuse or relay.

I have not yet simply unplugged and re-plugged. Any ideas besides that?

Check the voltage at the window tabs and wires with the defrost on.

Good idea. BTW, I located where the fuse and relay are - in the fuse box in the passenger floorboard. I had flat missed that in the Owner's Manual.

The light comes on when I press the Read Defogger Button, but it obviously does nothing for any interior fogging of the glass. My guess is that the relay is working?? At least the fuse appears to be OK.

I'll get another person to assist with the voltage troubleshooting.

If there is voltage to the window turn the car off and measure resistance from one window connector to the other. I measured 4 ohms on my convertible which would be 3 amps when on at 12 volts, a high reading such as 2000 ohms would be too great to heat the glass.

Yup, that makes sense - sounds about right, mebbe 4 to 7 ohms is the expected range.

Found the culprit - was not immediately obvious, but the right mounting piece separated from the defogging medium. Just hanging there.

Went to Advance Auto, they have a repair cement / adhesive that is a conductor. Out of stock, it will be in tomorrow. Looks like a simple repair (I hope).

Are the tabs locates on the window pistons? Top or bottom ????

On a convertible the connectors are located in the top left and right window corners.

I used a Permatex repair kit to reattach both terminals on mine about a year ago, still works fine. You have to be cautious not to get that stuff anywhere but where you want it. Follow instructions exactly and make sure the terminals are clean and flat. I ultimately made the contact area on the terminal that attaches to the glass flat with a small file. It had small chunks of "solder" on it. Hardest part was having to get myself back there where I could do the repair correctly, not a lot of room to move around. Seems like I waited until I had to take the seats out for something else to give myself plenty of room.

On the Z06, the rear window is fixed. The defogger electrical connection posts are at the upper corners each side of the window.
