Alrighty... 2004 is in my driveway. Had a decent drive home and learned several things - solved several already.
Fellow who sold it hadn't driven it in over a year - recovering from surgery.
First off - sluggish handling was solved - air in the tires non existent.
Slightly wet carpet - all udders fully blocked.
Good news is that all cleared codes were gone except for the steering position sensor which I know needs replacing.
The soft top DESPERATELY needs to be treated with 303 etc. It's just a sponge right now.
One key fob the trunk release doesn't work on it. That's curious. Maybe dying battery in it or dirt?
Even though the TPMS didn't trigger any warning about there being no air - the display is blank when you bring up the tire pressure in the DIC. Relearn?
303 treatment is excellent. I used it on my 07,15 and now 2000 rag tops. As for the TPMS, get a decent magnet and access the tire learning program then follow the instructions. Mine had no numbers too but once I did the relearn the numbers came back.......
Reprogramming the sensors requires a strong (preferably u-shaped or circular) magnet.
Turn the key to the ON position but do not start the car.
Press the DIC RESET button to clear any warning messages if they’re present.
Press the OPTIONS button and cycle through the menu until the display goes blank.
Press and hold the RESET button until “FOB TRAINING” appears on the display.
Press the OPTIONS button once. A “TIRE TRAINING” message is displayed.
Press the RESET button once. A “LEARN LEFT FRONT TIRE” message is displayed.
Hold a magnet over the Valve Stem on the left front wheel. You may have to move it around the valve stem to hit the right spot.
When the horn beeps (about 7 seconds later), programming is complete for THAT wheel.
Program the other three wheel sensors as directed by the DIC message display. The sequence is as follows: Left Front, Right Front, Right Rear, Left Rear.
You have approximately 45 seconds to train each tire. If the sensor isn’t reset in that time, the training program shuts down, and you will have to start the entire procedure over.

If the sensors have ever been replaced with aftermarket sensors, the magnet procedure may not work. The new sensors I put in mine are not magnetic programmable. Discount Tire had to use a tool to get them going.
Much accomplished today... HVAC controls now work! Poor thing is drying out indoors - letting the soft top protectant cure. Did the TPMS relearn successfully but the display still shows nothing.. blank.. any ideas on that? . LED headlight bulbs installed... the work continues...
If you followed the relearn steps and waited for the horn to sound then it's most likely the TPMS sensors themselves. Odd that all 4 would fail at the same time like this but if they're the original then the batteries have just plain worn out.
They definitely honked the horn - there is no warning light either.
Silly question, but did you drive it after the re-learn?
Most of the time the display is blank on any day until you drive the car for few miles. Then the readings pop in. Normal function. Sensors go to sleep when the car is not moving.
Congrats on the Vette! It looks great. Your TPMS issue is strange. Normally, if the car is not reading one or all, you'll see XXX instead of just blank screen. If the horn beeped, then the car and TPMS are talking to each other. I know that it is possible to program the TPMS out of the car, but I'm not sure what the result of that is. BTW, make sure that you check the date code on the tires. Even if the tread is good, you want to make sure they aren't old. Enjoy restoring the car. I hope it brings you many miles of smiles.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!!
Looks like a solid car
Steering position sensor - unplug, spray with electronics cleaner, replug a few times. Might be the connection itself. this was the case on mine, 30k mile babied '04.
