I am sure most synthetic would suffice as long as it works with the temp you run or race in. The manual's viscosity is designed for best MPG to my knowledge. I personally run Mobile 1 15w-50 based on the performance shops recommendation for my mods ( they did all work on my car). They work and specialize in chevy v-8's for over 30 years. Never had a single issue and works great.

I just recently put Super car in my 2015 Zo6----it takes the place of 0W-40 ESP according to bulletin! All is well so far. I notice a slight rise in oil pressure. 2015 Z06, 42,000 miles, superb car, no problems yet! License NICE AZ. I love it!

There's so little specificity in this thread.
I have a 2004 LS1 with 200,000 mi with a 160 thermostat and a 175F fan Turn on w max engine coolant at 181F that has 0w40 oil and cold engine The pressures run from 40 to 80 and hot with the oil at 255F it runs from 32 to 55psi. Hot engine and oil at 205F oil runs 40-70psi. This seems to be the right oil for my situation. Anybody else have anything specific they can add?

Also, have you noticed any change in engine or lifter noise since using the 0w-40?
I recently installed a higher lift cam and the lifters are noisier than before. That may just be the nature of the beast, but keeping an open mind.

Does your engine have a stock oil pump? If not, what?

I still have the original oil pump. Warm, it idles at 30-35, 40-45 under normal driving, 50 ish on hard acceleration. Now that’s looking at the dash gauge. Maybe I should turn on the DIC reading and film it while I drive…

I don't think you need to see it on a hand scanner. I think the numbers are in range and everything is perfect. Don't change your thing. We don't need to nitpick over a couple PSI. It's like blood pressure. It changes throughout the day so does your pulse

Rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000rpm. Your going to see higher psi at cold start until the motor comes to temp. I would want to see higher than 50psi at redline but warm at 5000rpm is about right. I thicker oil would read higher but that’s only half the story. The pressure and volume need to be in balance. Enough pressure to get it to the places it needs to go and enough volume to do its job lubricating the friction surfaces. Sounds to me like your pump is doing both. The LS motors are pretty amazing as far as longevity of service goes.
It’s a shame that the 4L60e backs up so many of them. At least the T56 was a option
