Hey everyone, new member here. I’ve been researching for the last couple weeks for a C5 Z06 and have decided to join the forum.
Im coming from a 2021 Mercedes GLA45 AMG and looking to make a switch to something with more character, power and “workability” like a C5 Z06.
Im looking for a clean, black 2002-2004 Z06 specifically. I’ve done some homework on the known issues like the valve springs, steering column lock, and axle seals so I know what to look for and a PPI would be non negotiable.
If anyone has leads on any clean black examples or has gone through the buying process recently I’d appreciate the help.
Welcome to the group. I know you'll love the C5! The forum for sale section linked above is a good place to look. Sounds like you've already got a great idea what you're looking for, and what to look out for. I would recommend looking for cars with 50k - 70k miles on them. That's really going to be the sweet spot. You don't want a car that hasn't been driven as there tend to be certain issues with garage queens that C5s that are actually driven don't have. You'll also save money over an ultra low mileage car. With that said, when well cared for these cars are pretty reliable and last several hundred thousand miles. If you can, get one that comes with a full service history. Failing that, there are a few things like the condition of the driver's seat that can give you a clue as to how well the previous owners cared for the car. Good luck with your search. Post up pictures when you bring one home. Let us know if you have any questions, and don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!
