Ignorant 'regular' C5 guy needs to know...
How does the Z shave off a couple hundred pounds? Is it the roof?

The hardtop is lighter than the hatch glass but its also things like no runflats, thinner windshield glass, Ti exhaust, and a few other minor things.

Even the battery is designed to be lightweight (different from C5 coupes/verts). Insulation and carpeting too. Manual passenger seat. Fixed mast antenna. CD changer not factory option. And the "creme dela creme," the LS6!

F1 Supercar tires weigh less than runflats. Wheels may be lighter, too.

All C5s have the balsa wood core composite floor panels. C6s will get the same on the load compartment floor.

As mentioned above, the wheels are a bit lighter, like 3 lbs each. No power passenger seat on Z, either, probably 8-10 lbs or so.
As for the carpet, the front seems to be the same (yes?), but the junk that's in the trunk area can't quite be called "carpet". It's very thin.
It's all a bunch of little things, but they all add up.

The titanium exhaust and thinner (and smaller for the rear glass/hatch) glass is a large part of the equation. All the other items mentioned contribute as well.
