Default Optima Battery Problem!! HELP!!

Put a new red Optima battery in my 98 Vette about a month ago, everything was good until now. Now every time I go to start the car the engine just turns over. Most times I have to get a jump to start it?? This has been going on for the past week. When driving the car the volt gauge is running at 13.5 to 13.9. I don't think the alternator is gone, but need some help??

I'm no expert but if I were you, I'd return the battery to where ever you bought it (its only been a month so they should accept it) in exchange for a new one. Now, if you still have a problem with the new one, its got to be either your alternator or something else.

Use this Tech Tip to see if you have any Charging System Fault codes first.

Checking Your Trouble Codes

If nothing appears, try a trickle charger to see if that restores the battery to full charge or take it back to where you purchased it and have them test it. It's obviously still under warranty so they'll replace it if it's faulty.

Did the problem start within a day or two of the new battery... If not, I would guess the cause is else where.
