Is every 03' a "50th anniversary"?
I keep seeing most 03's being advertised as "50th anniversary" even though they are not the special red car with the shale interior. What is that car called??

I think they all had the nose and rear emblems that said 50th anniversary. Just all did not have the anniversary package.

However mine has 2 50th Anniversary emblems, nose and trunk. Guess that qualifies it as a 50th Anniversary, it's just not the AE

The answer is yes and no. All 2003 are Anniversary year vettes. But the Anniversary Edition is the one with the AE Red paint and the Shale interior. The AE also has the 50th logo (the 50 with the flags through them) and the other 2003 vettes do not.
Hope this helps.

The way GM treats this is a little confusing, but I think this is just like the deal with the 40th Anniversary. The way they look at it, all cars produced that year are considered anniversary cars, in that they were built in the anniversary year. In both 1993 and 2003 (I guess the same is true for 1978), only a limited number (in the case of the 50th - not so limited) are Anniversary Edition cars.
In 2003, only the 50th Anniversary Edition cars got the special paint, interior (and convertible top) color, wheels and suspension package. All 2003 Corvettes got the 50th Anniversary emblems.
In 1993, only 6749 cars were purchased with the 40th Anniversary Edition package (special paint, interior, wheel centers, and badges), but all 1993 Corvettes without cloth seats (in other words - all but a handful) got special anniversary stitching in the headrests.
Sometimes you'll see an ad for a "Blue 40th Anniversary Corvette." An ad like that is only partially true - and a little misleading - because the car can not be a 40th Anniversary Edition car - 40th Anniversary Corvettes only came in Ruby Red. The owner will say, "Look at the stitching in the headrest." The answer is that it's a 1993 Corvette that didn't have cloth seats.

Toy companies don't help the issue in that both 1:64 and 1:18 models in other colors are sold with the 50th fender emblems all over the packaging.

If its an '03 then its a 50th anniversary model. Just as an '04 is a 51st aniversary model. As is a '54 a first anniversary Corvette, and a '63 a 10th anniversary Corvette. '03 marked the 50th year/anniversary that the Corvette has been an American icon.
It may not have the "commemorative" 50th anniversary TRIM PACKAGE, but it is still a 50th anniversary edition/ version/rendition of the Corvette.
This "trim package" does not change the "model". Beneath the paint "color" and the interior "color", its just another '03 Vette. There is no performance "equipment" available on it and not available on any of the other '03s,........ only the "color."
The "models" or types of C5s are either coupe, vert, FRC , Z06. Otherwise, they are just different "colors"

I think the key word here is 'model'. For $5,000.00 extra,... mine is called 50th anniversary 'EDITION, which includes the 50th anniversary package.
bottom line
production year vs production year + the above. (Did I get that right?)
not to mention... production numbers divided by years of desire, squared, and multiplied by owner age...or something like that.

50th Anniversary Side Emblems
I ordered a 2003 from a large dealer in Pennsylvania. I customed-ordered electron blue, torch red interior and white convertible top. Also ordered 50th Anniversary side emblems which came delivered on car. My dealer was able to special order this way through personal contacts at GM.
