Speaking of Vipers. I was watching the speed channel the other day and they were doing a comparrrison between a NASCAR vehicle and a Viper. The Viper performed better on the skid pad, 1/4 mile and 0-60 tests. I guess the only thing the NASCAR car could beat the Viper at is top speed. It was strange to see a stock car being tested like a drag car.
BTW, they couldn't get the NASCAR car to break the tires loose. They finally decided to pop the clutch at 8,500 RPM and they smoked the clutch.

My g/f's brother inlaw was a driver in the Bush north series, he calls the nascar cars just big overweight dumb cars, but i guess that is where the driver comes into the game....
sure they may have top speed, but i bet most of our cars would beat a nascar car on a road course.. (with equal tires )
good driver in a new Viper WILL beat a Corvette (of any type, stock vehicle) in any type of performance contest, be it straight line, or handling..
I don't know about that, I was at petit lemans this weekend and both new SRT's went off the road into the gravel. The older version seemed to fair better. The SRT's looked very loose in the rear. I even said to my wife I bet that Viper goes into that gravel, and sure enough he did. I wish no one bad luck.
The Viper in the GTS class fininshed about 36 laps behind the Corvette's
And the GT speed challenge went to Caddy, Prosche, and Lou G. in third 4th was also a corvette then some Porsches, but vipers were way back.
Just my observations from watching 4 days of racing

You would think that a purpose built race car would handle better than a street car. I was pretty surprised to see those results.
