Default 2001 stock CD player stopped playing...

Does anyone know how to get the CD player working again...when I put a CD in all it does is give me an error message and spit the CD out...

It sounds like you might have some dirt or grease on the CD or now perhaps on the lens on the inside of the cd player.

1) Try a different cd and see if you get the same results.
2) If I still will not work, you might want to try a CD cleaning kit. You can buy them at most audio stores, Best Buy, etc. The kit has some cleaning fluid and a cleaning disc (a CD) that you put into the CD player. If there is some dirt or a smudge on the lens inside, the cleaner should take it off. I would not recommend fequent use of the cleaner, but it just might take care of your problem without having to remove the unit or spending much cash.

Same thing happened to mine (2001 stock in dash cd player). Tried different cd's, some days it would work, some days not. Seemed to depend on the temperature? Finally had dealer replace it under warranty (extended GMPP warranty, was past the 3 year 36 mo warranty).

Apparently it just died due to old age!
