Well, friends and fellow Vette owners it's that dreaded time to replace my tires. I have a silver 2001 coupe with 32K and will soon need replacement tires. I'm thinking of buying non-EMTs and getting a Z06 tire repair kit, just in case, especially since I was told that the EMT, once punctured, should not be repaired. But before I go through with the decision I wanted to get your, collective, opinions.
I would not spend the big bucks wanted for a Z06 kit. One you probably will not use the goop to seal the tire because it will ruin your tires sensors. Here is what I bought for my coupe, jack and jacking pucks, patch kit, portable compressor/light that hooks into car, pressure gauge, 4 way lug wrench with 19mm, bottle of soapy water to find hole, and then some fix a flat as a last resort. Of course you want a cell phone and road side service. Of course if you are not going to keep your pressure sensors your kit can be simpler. The Z06 kit is overpriced though, put it together yourself.
I bought the Goodyear GS D3 tires and couldn't be happier. Not only has the ride improved 100%, but my car is quieter and now nery seldom hop-skips over irregular surfaces in a curve, like my EMTs used to do. To top it off, they are made right here in the USA - highly recommended!
I bought a 12V compressor at Radio Shack, an aluminum jack from C5frederik, and a plug kit at my local auto parts store. I also have a road service plan with T-Mobile that cost me about $2.00 per month (just in case).
