I'm looking at ordering a 2002 Z06 (yellow!), but would like to hear from the owner's experiences with the car first hand before I make the commitment.
What are the best 3 and worst 3 things about the Z06 in your opinions?

best:
3rd gear in the twisties. can not be beat, 3rd gear is where all the fun is.
overall road holding ability, AH lets you drive in arcade mode instead of sim mode
overall look of the car, and the fact all the little boys point & jump up and down in mom's car when they see it
worst:
right leg heater. next to the shifter gets so hot i can not rest my leg on it. takes about 45 min to heat up, but then, it's just tooo damn hot (texas heat doesn't help either)
spill inducer, i mean lighter holder. completely useless for any kind of drink. check the new trans am's for a drink holder that works. i can personally testify it will hold a tall glass during a 1/4 mile run, and all kinds of twisties. colsole space in the z is a joke also. maybe carry a deck of smokes or something non-meltable (no chocolate )
stereo: for the $, i expected a lot better. the t/a has a much nicer sounding system for 1/2 the price.
added bonus: the f1's are evil in the rain.
but the z still kicks mucho ***

PewterC5,
Order the car! Don't worry, you're gonna like it.
Best - handling (90% tires), acceleration, WOW factor
Worst (but not that bad)- no CD changer, no tire pressure monitor, gas mileage (may be related to #2 above)

Best:
1)Performance
2)Looks
3)Comfort
Worst
1)Seats(for spirited driving)
2)Interior Styling
3)Heat From Center Console
It's hard to believe a car right off the showroom floor has this type of performance and is comfortable enough to be daily driven. I drive mine to work just about everyday.
I've never liked the interior styling. It seems a little plain for a car in this price range. I like the interior of the new M3 and the Audi TTs. I wouldn't want them to duplicate those cars just modernize what they already have.
The heat from the console sucks when it's hot outside. I prefer the windows open to the AC but sometimes I need to roll them up and turn on the AC because of the exra heat.
I'm just complaining because you asked but outside of the POS stock shifter(replaced) I don't have any problems that I spend any time thinkig about. I love the car and would buy it again.

Best:
1 - Power (3000 to redline)
2 - Handling
3 - Dash or instrument cluster (I love looking at it!)
Worst:
1 - Shifter (can't speedshift, this might be because it is so new)
2 - Stereo
3 - Cup holder
Overall this is one of the best cars I have ever driven (includes Viper, Porsche and Ferrari). I highly recommend it!!

Cons first (only listed first because everything else about the car is a plus/exceeds expectations. ;-))
1.) The left front BOSE speaker cover gives against my left calf when my foot is on the deadman and I am being agressive trying to hold myself down (searching for lateral stability)....because:
2.) The seats are not made for very agressive driving, well within the capabilities of the car. And I weigh 250, so it's not like I am Tinkerbell sliding around.
3.) VINI BURNDI VICI, for the few out there still keeping Mobil One in business.

This was my first C5, therefore my comments maybe more general.
Best - 1)Performance-excellent acceleration and incredible braking and handling. 2) Looks awesome - yellow will be a great color!
Mine is torch red. 3)Comfortable
Worst - 1) Coupe - no convertible or removable roof 2) Too comfortable - needs to have louder exhaust and more raw 3)Seriously too low of a front spoiler-be cautious. I have been, but still scrape it.

Best:
1) Looks (of the car -- and FROM others! )
2) Smooth power
3) World Class reputation
Worst:
1) Rocking driver's seat
2) Crappy intake (I swapped it out quickly, but it just shouldn't even be like that from the factory)
3) Bogus sound system
I hope you don't really intend on "weighing" any of these pros and cons we're writing here. There should be NOTHING here that should disuade you from buying a Z (and, hell, if you need reasons TO buy one, then, well, I think you need help).
Just get it done! Don't look back!

Best:
1) Power to weight ratio
2) Supercar tires grip awesome
3) Price to performance ratio
Worst:
1) Passes oil like a MFer
2) Zero lateral support seats
3) Cheapo interior (including driver's side speaker cover that dents against your leg during hard turns to the right!)

I had the same kind of concerns before ordering mine - and you should. But don't worry. I think you will find that you cannot make a better decision!!
Pros:
Power
Appearance
Active Handeling/Traction Control
Cons:
Rattling in low gear take off
cupholder
Overall this is still one of the most amazing cars!!

I don't really have much new to add here:
Best:
Power and Sound
Super Grip
Menacing Good Looks (mine's black)
Worst:
GM Build Quality (rocking seat)
Cheap Interior
CRAPPY Blose system
I bought my Z in January of this year, and have put almost 5K miles on it. The only mod is lowering. I just did a 1400 mile trip, and I will say, the driving position can get a little long in tooth after 10-12 hours at the stick. But to average 72.4 MPH @ 28.8 MPG in a nearly 400 horse car is pretty schweet.

The only negative about it is that the roof in not removable. Go get it and drive.

What I really hear you asking is if there's a down side.
The answer is NO.
The Z06 won Automobile's Car of the Year Award.
The Z06 won Popular Mechanic's Engineering of the Year Award.
Chevrolet is so damn proud of this car that it comes with it's own 65 min video tape.
Unless you're the lead dog the view never changes.
If you get this car you will be the lead dog.
Neither a Viper nor a Porsche Turbo can follow you around a corner.
If you order Millenium Yellow you will wait before you get one. It'll be worth it.
