Default Help...Can't open fuel door

Went to buy gas today and the fuel door wouldn't open. Tried the button inside console...nothing. Read the owner's manual and it said about a manual release handle "located against the upper trim on the dirver's side in the rear compartment." Couldn't find that either.

Can anyone help with either problem? Where ecactly is this manual handle located?

What might be the problem with the remote button?

Thanks

sounds like to me it came unplugged. pop the center piece and open the console door and remove the two tabs from the rear. then unscrew the bolts and shift out of place. Once you do this you'll see two plugs attached to the center piece I mentioned earlier. there are two plugs that have to be secured into their repective slots. check that and you should be good to go

It's a small handle connected to a thin wire found pretty high up the side of the trunk. Sometimes under the carpet lining. Once you know what you are looking for, it won't be hard.

The manual release is just a cable with a small plastic pull. you really have to lean over into the back to see it. A flashlight will help. it is under the ledge on the drivers side.

Try checking a fuse in the fuse panel in the passenger footwell. Likely candidates are minifuses numbers 2 and 7. I popped one of those when I shorted the cig lighter working on the console once.

If it is the connector for the fuel door switch, that is under the center arm rest console. Follow the first few steps of my Hurst tutorial to get to the switch connector. Careful lifting the console up as the harness for the fuel door is very short and you need to reach underneath and unhitch it. The release for the plug is usually on the top of connector which makes it tough to get your finger under it to release it.

Open your center console lid. It is in the front of the storage area on the passenger side.

I have the same problem with a C7/2015. Looks like I need to take the rear tire off and open up the wheel well cover and replace the motor since the rod is stuck in the closed position.

Any other suggestions welcomed. I don't have enough gas to get to the dealier.

Nice job posting in the 17 year old thread. I guess the last post was 6 years ago. Either way thanks for bringing us back to Bush and Obama.
