I contacted them reguarding a CAI and they recommended a Vararam and a Dyno tune. Said I could expect appx 30 hp gain. They also quoted 1100 for the base line pull -installed Vararam and a tume afterwords. It seems a bit high!
You will notice the difference - no doubt about it. Higher speeds do have a direct effect on engine response. Never checked but 30 Hp may be a conservative number. If you were to buy a programer and the VR-2B, your about $850 with shipping. To have a proffessional dyno tune for an extra $250 and not have to install the VaraRam sounds very reasonable to me. Just ask LAPD if they can store your stock tune on a CDROM or other method.
They're great... got me a fantastic price on my Kooks for the GP and Sean must have his computer shoved up his butt b/c he answers emails w/ in five minutes every time.
I have purchased many itmes fro Shawn @ LAPD over my 5+ years being a CF member. In addition I have on many occasions sent him a private e-mail with questions or requests for advice and help and he has always responded.
While I have never met Shawn or any of LAPD's staff I would have no difficulty in letting them work on my car. In fact I wish Shawn and LAPD had a facility near St Louis.
If Shawn says these are the parts, cost and benefits you can expect you can take that to the bank.
they seem to be great....everytime i call or email them for questions, they are very quick to respond and seem to be very customer friendly....i hear nothing but good things about them also
and speaking of the vararam, i just got mine a few days ago and was unable to do the install myself (i wasted 5 hours and eventually had to put it back together, thanks to the crappy instructions and photos included with it), so i shot them an email and they will schedule me sometime this week for what i think is a very good price (they also assured me they do the vararams all the time)...they are also very good in accomodating your schedule
i will probably go through them first from now on, whenever its time for another mod or if i have questions

If your willing to try it again, take off the the shroud the stock box is mounted on, install the unit and reinstall the shroud. Made life much easier 1 hr 45 mins. Instructions never mentioned this and eliminated about 10 cuts and scraps. You can get it done quicker but I wanted to be sure the sensors were placed back properly, so I took my time. Good Luck!
