Color Change on my 99, using a Foam Roller and Brush❗️
Back in 2014 I was close, but decided instead to plastidip my whole car! Which turned out great!
With the birth of my first child, sold the car for a few years and bought it back!
Put on wheels, wide body rear etc etc, did a partial back half wrap, and then here we are today!
Roller, brush, and TIME, lots of time and patience!
Still not done, but getting better!

1. Where did you get the paint?
2. Is the paint automotive specific?
3. How much does it cost?
4. Is this a one coat application?
5. Any close up pics?
1. Where did you get the paint? Good ole HD
2. Is the paint automotive specific? No, old school oil based Rustoleum
3. How much does it cost? I think I’m closing in on $200 now for the whole project videos to come.
4. Is this a one coat application? I wish LOL, at least 4-5 coats needed especially if you want to cut and buff!
5. Any close up pics?
This seems really appealing to me for my drift car. That would hide quite a lot of sins very easily.

It’s a labor of love, still going to cut and polish it to make it look like glass!

And yeah insanity of what good quality paint jobs cost nowadays, I got two separate quotes for 10k and that was just a respray of the Pewter color, not a full color change!
It’s a fun toy, I have kids, could never afford to drop that this time in my life!
That’s so cool! It’s actually a fun process, no overspray, minimal taping! Just a ton of prep sanding in between coats!
I just did my 911 wheels. They came out great. The 2k sprays have paint with a catalyst in the can. Shake it release the catalyst on the bottom shake and spray. A harden paint comes out and is perfect for sanding and buffing. Note no sanding was needed on my wheels.

Even clean they were rough.

It was a rust brown with a tan interior with a bench seat. However, as ugly as it was, it ran great. One weekend, I helped him paint it a black. He didn't use rollers, but he did use a professional spray gun and taped off all the chrome, trim, and wheels. He let the paint cure for a couple of weeks and then went back and polished it down to a satin finish. He then wired up a great-sounding aftermarket stereo but hid the head unit underneath the front seat and kept the stock head unit as a decoy to prevent the new stereo from being stolen. He also added a set of black cop wheels with no hubcaps to finish the look. He drove it through college and even kept it for a few years after graduating and living in the city where he parked it on the street. He mentioned a few times it was his favorite as he never had to worry about it getting banged up or stolen.

I have my reasons for not using spray cans/or plasti dipping again! Overspray, harsh chemicals, and my kids.
Roll on allowed me to break the project up in pieces if you will!
Stay tuned guys! I will post more updates in case anyone ever wants to try!
