What would it cost to convert it over to install in a C5? Thanks, David
I was told you had to remove the crank to remove and weld in the new reluctor ring. I tried buying a used LS7 a few months ago and this is what they told me, maybe they just wanted to unload it quick and not do anything with it so they made it sound like a really big deal.
Since the LS7 is dry sump you either have to buy the dry sump kit which can run $500-$1000 depending on if you look at aftermarket or GM parts. OR you can convert to wet sump which again I "heard" requires a different crankshaft. If I were having to replace the reluctor I guess I would just remove the crank and install a different one with the 24 tooth reluctor and setup for wet sump. I could be wrong since there is a lot of mis-information at these early stages of fitting an LS7 in a C5.
We checked yesterday with a source that said they have an electronic conversion available to enable the LS7 reluctor wheel to be read for use in a C5, F Body, etc. It sounds like it goes for around $500.00. Thanks! Bob
