Default 1999 Steering Wheel Position Sensor

Can anyone suggest the best place (OK - the cheapest!) to get a steering wheel position sensor? I'm getting the Service Active Handling message and DIC codes to support that needs replaced. I've seen a couple online but they are asking $350 or so... Thanks!

I would gladly pay $350 or so if someone had a new one. I have been searching for one for the past few months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After ordering two of these and paying for them online: one from Corvette Parts Worldwide.com and one from Corvette Specialties of California - they both informed me, as did three local Chevrolet dealers, that the part was now DISCONTINUED by GM!!

Good eye, GM!!

I can see discontinuing the cigarette lighter insert or the vanity mirror lighting fixture or...?? BUT THE F#CKING STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR FOR THE ACTIVE HANDLING FEATURE?! REALLY...?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Isn't that kind of an IMPORTANT F#CKING PART, YOU A-HOLES?!

I guess we're just supposed to drive our 1999-2000 Corvettes out to the nearest landfill, tie a brick onto the gas pedal, get out and put it into drive and the car will make all of the necessary adjustments needed from there...?? Assuming, of course, that it was pointed in the direction of the debris pile before exiting the vehicle!!

I now have several local Chevrolet dealers, a few Corvette only parts houses and a couple of Corvette salvage yards all searching for that damn part without any luck yet!! If I run across the guy with a case of these sitting in his garage... After I'm done bitch slapping his happy *** and taking TWO for myself...

I WILL POST HIS LOCATION SO THAT YOU CAN GET A HOLD OF HIM, TOO!!

After that - he's all yours!! LOL

$350 just for the sensor???WTF?

I had mine replaced under warranty in Nov. 2011 at the Chevy dealer...
On my bill it is listed as part number 88965543 ...The Chevy dealer charged the warranty company $87.44 for the sensor and $264 labor to replace the sensor. I watched and it was NOT an easy job

GMPartsdirect lists it as:
Position sensor W/TELESCOPING COLUMN
MSRP $89.11
Online Price $52.82

======================================== ==
Also :GM Part Number 88965543 (SENSOR) has recently been available on PartsVoice.com.
======================================== ===

The sensor is also available at lots of other places...

I have one (2004)that was replaced...but are they still good ? How can you tell? It may read the resistance within range and still throw a code Is it worth putting a used one on?

Hi...Do yourself a favour!!! Do a search, or have the dealer do a nationwide search, for availability. Call the dealer who has the part and buy it....! You'll save yourself so much aggravation, (been there, done that)
The job is a major pain in the *** to do, remove the steering column.

Check at the gmpartshouse. (CF sponsor)

How much do you want for one and can it be reused on another vehicle?

Do you still have any of the 2000 SWP sensors? I would be interested in one.

Thank you Ed
