Notice the difference? The bottom of the 5%er is elongated towards the bottom, this allows the bearing (pivot point) to sit closer to the tip of the shaft. If you look at the bottom of a factory shifter it does the same thing, it's below the top of the shifter box.

REDZ, if you are referring to the bar type shifter shown above, FWIW, that kind of shifter dominates race cars, in particular rallye cars. It’s a slightly different hand hold, but it does provide a variety of grips and increased leverage if desired.

Thanks bud! If you dont like it you can go with lots of other stuff, its the most common thread size 9/16-18. And if you want I'll make you a shorter one and you can try that or as well.

Nope. No need. Why not give something different a try? I didn't think I'd like Quinoa until I tried it.
Another super satisfied lower box customer here! I cut down the stock shifter about 1.12" and threaded for a Hurst ball. The little chevy shifts as smooth as silk now!!!
And Tom is a great guy to work with!
If you ANY thoughts about doing the lower box at least DO IT …..NOW!!! :-)
