Up for sale is a new eBay exhaust with about 5 minutes of idle time. I bought this exhaust knowing full well they don't fit well out of the box. I spent about 4 hours making this exhaust fit decently well.
Because my car is a race car, I was only concerned with function, not looks. This exhaust functions well and sounds amazing. There's plenty of videos out there to listen to.
What I did to fix it. Bought proper exhaust band clamps from amazon. The exhaust didn't come with enough clamps and they were too small to fit, so I ordered band clamps from amazon. These worked well to hold the exhaust in place everywhere except coming into the mufflers. To get them to hold here, I had to cut some things strips of aluminum to fit inside the clamps (see pictures). I also had to modify the hanger bracket on the right side muffler section. It may require a bit more bending to get an even better fit. I also had to cut about an inch off one of the 90 degree bends To get the right side muffler to fit in the hanger. The left side fit well right out of the box.
The problem and why I'm selling. Very minor leaks from the clamps closest to the muffler. Since my car is a race car, the body has various holes in it for roll cage tubing, cooling hoses, and wiring. Because of the minor leaks, and the fact that I sit in the car in grid with the car idling, it wasn't worth the risk of having carbon monoxide enter the vehicle and kill me. If the car was stock and still had a sealed body, I would have zero issue with this. This may just be a matter of buying higher quality clamps than the cheapest Amazon clamps. My plan was to just weld the whole exhaust. A but of exhaust RTV might work too.
I ended up going a different route because i'm tired of welding after doing my entire cage. My loss, your gain.
BONUS: This exhaust doesn't come with the standard hideous ebay exhaust tips. It comes with nice Corsa style double wall tips. This was a nice bonus that I wasn't expecting.
I got the tips level, but the stick out is a bit off and requires modification with a welder. I apparently forgot to get a photo of this, but left side tips stick out about an inch further than the right.
Comes with 4 clamps that came with it (that are too small), 2 unused gaskets, and all bolts that it came with. (Amazon clamps not included, I sent those back since they don't seal.)
