Default "check engine light" PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello all..... I know most of you have done this b4 so I hope someone can help me.

I am having problems with my air/fuel mixture. and it is causing the check engine light to remain on at all times....

I have a twin flow cold air intake, vortec power duct, Granatelli M.A.S. and a throttle body, but have never upgraded my computer. I have call Granatelli and they told me that the spacer on my T-Body is causing the problem???? There is no other way to install the T-Body without the spacer?? Has anyone else had this problem?

I am thinking of buying a programmer to try & fix the problem, but want to know if it will help b4 I waste my money. Granatelli told my to buy the predator power programmer (no kidding) and told me that all others would not work.

So what the hell do I do now???? remove the T-Body completly? remove the M.A.S????? buy a ppower programer? or take my car to a corvette tuner and let them screw with it???

I hope someone can help...... SUmmer is around the corner and my baby needs to be running @ 100%.

Thanx guys.....

The Granatelli stuff isn't helping your case............. I would remove your M.A.S. (I think you mean MAF) and TB and return to stock. Their MAF is nothing but problems from a tuning standpoint and the TB isn't needed as it does virtually nothing for a stock car. Or you can keep both and find someone with LS1 Edit to tune out the issues. The power programmer they mentioned won't help you a bit. You'll need LS1 Edit or HP Tuners software and a knowledgeable tuner. Email me at: dtsngit@bellsouth.net if I can be of assistance.

I couldn't agree more

I understand the post originator had good intention installing these items, but from what I've read time & time again.... these items (especially the GMAS) don't seem to give any measureable performance gain unless the LS1 has had extensive heads/cam upgrades. And that the GMAS causes more problems then it cures.

I'd remove the GMAS - reinstall the stock MAF sensor, and have a dyno tune done with LS1 Edit.

I think you are all right.

I live in T.O. and went to go see my friend John Carivaggio yesterday to ask him what he thought.

He said exactly what you all have said. The granatelli stuff is doing more harm then good. He told me that the T-Body is O.K. as well as the power duct. But he wants me to remove the twin flow air intake because it is causing turbulance in my motor and switch it to a blackwing and remove the granatelli mas air flow sensor and go back to stock. He is going to hook my car up to the computer and tune it to try and fix the problem. Keeping what is working and tossing what is not. I will keep you all upto date on the results.

A word of advice to all.............. stay away from the cheap bolt on "power" upgrades. If you want to go faster stick with what works. a good intake, a good set of headers, and exhaust. then go internal.

bolt on SH*T does not work.

Bolt ons do work but you have to carefully choose what you get. I'll buy your granatelli from you if you don't want it.
Even pulling the screen on the stock MAF can be a major pain.

I understand how you feel. My guess is the Granatelli is causing the biggest grief. I bought one from a friend for $75 bucks and it's in the attic. Worked great on his Camaro, same model # for a 98 Vette. Maybe I'll sell it on Ebay. I bought a Hypertech programmer last year because 98's have little choice in handhelds and it too is now sold after doing nothing more than helping with the A4 and fans. HP Tuners arrives tomorrow and I can't wait.

What are your codes? A bad Maf is one thing, but c'mon, a bad spacer? If the MAF is evem CLOSE to being calibraing right, it should bolt on and there should be no SES lite.

Do yourself a favor, get it checked out before throwing more $$$ at it.
