Hey Guys,

the car guys in brighton michigan wil soon have my C5 Z06, does anybody of you ever visited these guys or do you have experience?
Can you recommend another shop in this area? I will update my car with Kooks 7/8 longtubes and X-Pipe in 3 inch!
Thanks.

Brighton and surrounding areas are some of my favorite SE Michigan cities.

I know someone in Howell but he tune imports mainly.

Not familiar with the car guys.

Why not call Livernois Motorsports in Deerborn Heights ? They are very well known company with a good reputation.

Hi,

what is the company in Howell? I live in Howell perhaps he also has some good contacts. As far as I´m informed the car guys are a good address.

When they dyno the car, what needs to be done with the dyno? I want to get rid of the CAGS, are there also other cool stuff the can program?

Thanks, ROuven.

The guy in Howell is named Brandon.

He has a huge garage and works out of his house.

I don't think he would have the software needed to tune a Vette.

Your tuner should set air/fuel ratio, timing, CAGS, rpm limiter.
This will get you the best performance, efficiency and safety for your motor.

Here's another idea... Have you tried posting in the regional part of corvette-forum ?

Thanks Troy,

I guess I will give the carguys a try! I will let him know your recommendations, I guess for $500 bucks I can expect a good dyno.
I will ask him first what exactly he will do, then I can compare
What do you think the car will put down with these modifications?

Rouven.

Hi Rouven,

For a good tune $500 is not uncommon sometimes.
I would see what your total cost will be if they are doing the install for the headers and X-pipe.

With those mods you should put down a good 30rwhp + .
You should also at least put in a Cold Air Intake too this way your gains will be even greater.

Since the great state of Michigan doesn't have emission, you could go with heads, beefy cam, bigger intake manifold, throttle body and more fuel. With that combination you could be in to the 450+ rwhp region.

That would be awesome.

Hey Troy,

for the dyno and the install they are charging $1 K, so approx. $500 for the install what is not to bad I guess.....
Sorry I didn´t mentioned that, I have a CAI installed (VARARAM incl. Powerduct). I´m excited to see what my car will put down.

You´re right with Michigan. The only problem so is that I´m German and I will take the car someday home....so everything I do needs to be streetlegal back home....what is a pain in the ***.....

But I´m planning on a cam anyway :-)

Rouven,

The Vararam will give you even more gains on the dyno. Vararam's also work really work well under real world road conditions. All said and done you might get about 40rwhp over stock, after the tune.

$1000 to install 1 7/8" Kooks and dyno tune isn't bad I guess being that Kooks are known to be the hardest to install. However with the equal length primaries on those Kooks, they were designed to make power.

I'm not sure if you can keep the long tube headers in Germany but it would be great if you could especially on the Autobahn.

My modification path has been cut short because of the extreme emissions we have here in California, I've all ready been through the hassles with emissions when I had my head/cam 2000 Pontiac Firebird.

I will be interested to see how your final dyno results turnout.

Hi Troy,

I was doing a lot of research and yes I can keep this combination in Germany but I will be another 2,5 years in the US so I still have plenty of time

As far as I was informed the Kooks should be the best on the market and better then the LG´s and others......we will see. I guess they will be hard to install, especially with the coating on the longtubes and headers.

40 more RWHP, would be nice. Then I should be in the range of 360-370 RWHP or?

I will let you know as soon as the tune is done!

Hi Rouven,

That's great that you have your Kooks coated too.
Being able to keep your Kooks in Germany is even better.

You should be able to get at least 370rwhp I would think.

It will be interesting to see the final outcome.

Hi Troy,

I will post this also in a separate post, I was just to busy the last few days. The car has corrected 401 RWHP now. This includes the Kooks 7/8 with X-Pipe and cats coated, B&B Bullet (the Titansystem was way to quiet) and the Vararam Airintake incl. Power duct! I love it! The car guys did a good job, I can recommend them! The car drives perfect, I get when I cruise over 30 miles per gallon....when you hit it for sure you can forget it :-)
