How to turn off TPMS?
I'm just curious as to how the TPMS can be turned off? I am getting new tires and when the old ones were removed I saw that the wheels only had standard rubber valve stems installed. This is on a 2002 ZO6, no TPMS lights are on so I assume something was turned off. I don't plan on changing anything, just curious how it was turned off.

C5 Z06's don't have a TPMS, only the cars with run-flat tires have TPMS installed from the factory. I don't think you could turn it on even if you wanted to.

Let's say I have a 2001 base model. Is there a way to turn off TPMS? The previous owner didn't put TPMS sensors in with the aftermarket wheels he installed. If not, how can I tell if these wheels are even compatible with the sensors should I choose to order some? The messages are getting on my nerves, and I've read running without them bothers the active handling system.

If you have an 01-04 car you can re-program the body control module to think you have a Z06 and turn off the TPMS so you won't get a message - you will have to find a shop or dealership with a Tech 2 that will reprogram the module. I would just turn off the TPMS vs getting sensors.

That's what I did. I had my local Chevrolet dealer use the Tech 2 to program the tpms out of my C5.
