Default Help Rearview mirror

I have a 2002 Vette and I'm swapping out the rear view mirror with one with a homelink. My problem is how do you remove the original mirror without destroying anything? There are no screws and no clips that I can see.I must be doing something wrong it shouldn't be that difficult.Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.......

BE VERY CAREFUL! I took my 04 to the dealer and asked them to remove my rearview mirror. I was standing there with my service advisor watching the mechanic try to remove the mirror. I noticed he was pulling on it pretty hard. I asked if he knew what he was doing. He replied smartly that the service manual said to do it. Next thing you know, he broke the mirror off of the windshield taking a layer of glass laminate with it. Needles to say they replaced my windshield and it was a PITA.

The electromatic rearview mirror is very difficult to remove. Have your dealer do it, so if it breaks they are responsible.

Good Luck,

If that's how the "dealer" did it then they did it wrong.

here's the right way:

Loosen the Torx screw in the center of the mounting block, then slide the mirror assembly up and off the mounting block that is permanently affixed to the windshield.

There is no torx screw on the electrochromatic mirror. It is held in place by a spring clip.

The dimming mirror has no screw. I comes off by turning the base very slightly by the stem. The mirror is designed to break away in a crash.
