Default AC Delco Oil Filter - PF44 or 46?

The manual calls for an AC Delco PF44 filter, but I can't find that one anywhere (checked 6 stores). Has the PF46 replaced the PF44 in the 2000?

The UPF46 is an improvement over the PF44. And its safe to use on our babies

This guy has done some interesting comparision testing.
http://www.oilfilterstudy.com/

You can draw your own conclusion. Three of the top filters, the K&N, Mobil 1 and AMSOIL SDF filters were tested. The results show a different approach for the K&N than the Mobil 1 and AMSOIL filters.

Filter Area Average Pore Size Flow
AMSOIL SDF 339 sq in 50 µm 13 oz/min
Mobil 1 299 sq in 52 µm 8.1 oz/min
K&N 343 sq in 63 µm 14.7 oz/min

You can see the K&N has about the same capacity of the AMSOIL SDF filter, more than Mobil 1, more flow than the AMSOIL and lots more than the Mobil 1, but sacrifices filtration with a bigger average pore size for that flow.

As a note, while these filters are all the same application (e.g. they all fit the same car) they are not the right part numbers for the C5/Z06.

The AMSOIL part is the SDF32.
AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter

IMO it's the best filter for our cars, and I've got the oil analysis results to back that up. Nobody yet has posted better engine wear numbers in an LS1 than I've been seeing with German Castrol 0w30 combined with a K&N oil filter.

For what its worth....I was at LPE last week and asked about the K&N preventing dry starts..there answer was they use AC delco without problem. I also use AC delco and have never experienced this leak down or noisy int. start.
