When driving around town do you keep your tank filled or not.I like to keep mine right around half, because it gets a lillte squirrely when I punch it.When it is full,it just hooks and goes.I like to let the tires break loose.By the way it is an a4.What about you?
When it hits reserve, I fill it. Then, repeat process. Can break tires lose whenever I want as I have a M6. If I know I'm going to the track I make sure I have 1/2 tank. I always test with that so I can be as accurate as possible.
Mine tears the tires apart at any filing. It really should not affect the cars performance that much . The two tanks distrubute wieght over the sides of the car... The fuel capacity of the vette is 18.5 gallons. One gallon of 93 octane weighs about 6.25 lbs per gallon. So at best from empty to full your talking just over 100 lbs of difference. If you are taking about half to full tanks your are talking about 50 lbs. In a 350 hp car, it should not make a noticible difference, unless you are at the track

It does make a difference. In my a4,with half a tank, nailing the throttle will result in a great big burn out. With the tank full,it will only burn about 20 feet, then hooks up.I am running the new Michelin PS2.With the runflats it really didn't matter.A half a tank makes the difference between going straight and having the rear get loose.I like it getting loose.
I usually don't let mine get any lower than 1/4 of a tank. With the way the gas prices are jumping up and down so much now I might fill it back up at 1/2 if there on one of the drops. Haven't really noticed much difference as far as performance (6 sp). When I get those 4:10's put in next month I know it won't make any.
...The two tanks distrubute weight over the sides of the car...
A bit off topic here, but I just want to clarify, the two tanks don't distribute the weight of the fuel, i.e., balance between both tanks. The RH tank continually feeds the LH tank until it's empty - 1/2 a tank reading on the gas gauge. That means at 1/2 tank, only the LH tank has fuel in it. However, when the car is parked and the engine is off (like overnight), fuel can flow back into the RH tank via a siphon through the connecting tank feed tube. When the engine is again started, fuel is pumped back into the LH tank, emptying the RH tank. This is why when you first drive off, your gas gauge reading is different than it is a few miles down the road.

I'll usually fill mine when it gets to around a 1/4 tank left, or if I hear that oil prices went up. Doesn't take the gas stations but a few minutes it seems to jack up the prices.
Im not sure its seems to be both I got a Magical guage it reads half full then 1/4 tank. then full then 3/4 tank and this is all in a 10 mile trip...lol
