Uh, yeah, the air at the nose of your car is cooler than the that in the engine bay.

I knew i would get a "Get a vararam" from someone. It seems every time somone has a question about a system, there is always someone who instead of going over the actual question, has to spout"Get a vararam".
Why do you suppose that is???? It is because many of the people saying "Get a Vararam" have seen the performance results for themselves.

And some of those same people have already gone the route of attempting to fabricate home made systems, to include, but not limited to, the Swiss Cheese Mod, Air Dams with holes in radiator shrouds, holes in foglight shrouds, pipe to air filter, etc, in an attempt to obtain some, or all , of the results as seen with the Vararam.

But the result is usually outright failure or some variation of it.

You actually think i havent been reading this entire thread, along with the countless others about this topic.I was mearly trying to emulate this piece of ****!!!!
On the contrary, I think you have been reading it. But one thing is puzzling. If its a piece of **** then why would anyone want to emulate it??? It must be doing something right.

Sorry to hear that. Its a shame they aren't giving you any better support than that as it is a relatively easy matter to fix for someone with average or slightly above average experience. Assuming that the torque converter and tranny are in good working order to begin with.

But sounds like you are on the right track. Good option seems to be to invest in HP Tuners or LS1 Edit yourself, or find someone local with one of them, and handle it yourself. Plenty of people here, or the HP Tuners site, or LS1 tech.com who could help you with the correct settings. That would get you in the ball park.

Plus if you had Tuners or Edit, once you got into the ball park, you could make adjustments in small increments, and at your leisure, to get the shifts dead nuts on. And you can use either program, HP Tuners or Edit, for any future modifications. HP Tuners has scanning and logging capabilities which are of huge benefit.

Another route could be to go ahead and find out now what the correct numbers should be (I would be glad to tell you what mine are if you like, our stall speeds are different however) and find someone local to program them in for you using HP Tuners, EFI Live or Edit. The HP Tuners repository might be a start to see if someone there has uploaded a transmission tune similar to what you need.

Good luck

I have finally made the decision to mod my car, it is a 99 Torch Red Conv LS1 stock. The trucks on starting to be on their way! Since my car is a 99, is there a difference in the Vortex Rammer for 99 vs later years, Is the opening larger? plans are a Supermaxx system, Corsa pace car exhaust (I like Loud), Z06 Cam and intake. Fidanza flywheel and stage 3 SPEC 6 puck sprung hub clutch. PCM tuning for now? any choice differences? Please help!
