I have a superchips microtuner on my 97 vette. It gave it more power and made the tranny shift alot better. The best thing about it is that you can change your coolant fan settings to turn on sooner.

Its sort of a loaded question. Depends on what your goals are.

If you merely want to do a few minor things and do not wish to get even moderately involved in modifications and tuning, then the Predator is a good choice. It will even handle the gear scaling to allow you to change to a none factory gearing option in an automatic. The Hypertech will not.

But if you will be doing more than just installing a canned "performance tune", and more than adjusting when your fans come on, then a PC based programming option is the best way to go.

The Predator performance tune is a "generic" tune as opposed to a custom tune for your car. You can get "custom tunes" for the Predator
and you can even change a few parameters yourself but a good tune is heavily dependant on logged data and interpreting that data. Predator for GM has no logging capabilities.

Its sort of like buying a suit off the rack at The Men's Store, or Overstock. com vs a tailored Armani or Boss. You may look good, average or terrible in that off the rack suit, as it was not made especially for you. Who knows?

But you would look even better if a good tailor fitted you in a quality suit.

The effects are most noticeable on near-stock automatics. If that describes your car... go for it!
