In know the C6 is still new to the market, but does anyone know if you can use the C6 braking setup on a C5? If so, is it a direct bolt-up, or are modifications needed.
I wanted to use the CTS-V Brembo Brake setup, but the car has six lugs, so I could possibly still use the calipers, but Im looking for more of a direct bolt on type of thing.
The C5 and C6 brakes are Identical. Both calipers are made by PBR of Australia, same caliper. On the C6 Z51 there is a larger brake caliper mounting bracket and the larger D/S rotor.
So the C6 Z51 braking system has the bigger caliper and rotor. Are those calipers 4 piston, or are they still the 2 piston slider style? So since the rotor diameter is bigger on the C6, can it be bolted to a C5?
The reson for the question is because Im not a big fan of a two piston slider type of caliper. I believe a four piston caliper will give you better more consistant braking power. Also, I would like to have the larger rotor as well since it will help disipate more heat.
The C6 Z51 calipers are 2-piston design that looks very similar to the standard caliper just beefed up a little. The C6 Z06 will have 6-pots, but don't know how long it will take to get them or if they will just bolt on.
For now, I would suggest LG motorsports. They've got a kit that uses the Wilwood SL6 caliper with the stock rotors and it's only ~$1100 - $1200. I will be putting that kit on my car very soon because my stock caliper are at the end or their life.
