Default LS6 intake install

I am thinking about getting a LS6 intake. I was wondering is it a huge job to do the intake swap? I do my own work on all my vehicles but it looks kinda scary under the hood of a vette. Also what kind of HP gains do you get from using the LS6 intake over the LS1 intake? Trying to decide if its worth it. Thanks

If your engine is internally stock and you plan on keeping it that way. You will gain VERY little or nothing by installing an LS6 intake. One member dynoed his car just before and after installing an LS6 intake and got a 0 HP increase.

just wondering ... what year was his car?

and an ls6 intake w/ a P&Ped TB will show some gains .. worth the sticker price meh, i wouldnt say so.

i'd go with a FAST intake with a 90mm but that's only if you plan to install other stuff later.

i'm waiting till vararam releases their new TB as it's supposted to be awesome, flowing like 1200cfm or something crazy.

According to Chris Endres, the author of the HP book about ls1/ls6 performance, most people see around 8 RWHP on a stock ls1, but with more mods like headers and camshafts it improves to around 15 RWHP. The FAST intake is better, but also more expensive.

They do increase HP. More than one has dyno'ed them with positive results. This is one of the main reasons 2001 and up C5 coupes have 5HP more.

7.6HP and 6.2TQ from this members stock 99 FRC.

Is it worth the $? Not really, but if you're planning on doing other mods, yes.

I am going to dyno my car again pretty soon. I installed the LS6 intake after the last time I dynod (where i made 368rwhp). I am getting ready to do H/C, and I am going to have the tuner do another baseline dyno before the install, so I'll be able to see exactly what kind of power the LS6 intake gave me. I'll post results in a few weeks when everythings done

If you swap to the LS6 intake, then you should swap to the LS6 PVC system at the same time
