Been there, done that. It does take a while. Mine took over 2 weeks but thats cause I injured myself, was waiting for parts to arrive and tore into the T56 to replace my 3rd gear synchro.

No problem, you'll find in San Diego you can easily get people to do anything related to a Vette for just beer and food....
