Is there any ıll effects for removıng the hood lıner?
want to clean the hood area a lıttle.
have seen that people wıth other hoods are not runnıng them
any ınput would be apprecıated
Its there to provide sound deadening and lengthen the life of the paint on the hood. If your up north, it shouldn't make a difference to leave it off. If you live in Phoenix, AZ on the other hand ........
GM is very tight with the $$. If it had passed heat testing at the Mesa, AZ proving grounds, they wouldn't put it on. Of course, they're looking at the possibility of paying to repaint a statistically small number of hoods (and the buyer frustration / bad publicity to go with it) versus how many vehicles they made over the period that the warrantee is in effect. The odds are in your favor that you won't have problems for years before the paint has the possibility to blister. The fact that the hood is fiberglass (poor conductor) is in your favor too.
Then again.... I prefer to be on the safe side since mine's a DD.
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE that they DO LOOK HOT if you take it off and clean it up good.
