I called WCC today regarding deprogramming the F-45 out of my 2000 C-5 DIC (plan on installing Bilsteins). They said that some models can be deprogrammed others cannot, depends on when the car was built. They recommended bringing the car in and they would check out the computer to determine if it could be deprogrammed.
Has anyone ever heard of this problem? If so, is it specific to 2000's??
I don't mind the paying for the diagnostic test but this sucks if true. Why would GM do such a thing??
Hey, fun time at Hooters Toy Drive on Sunday, met some great Corvette people.
called the dealer yesterday, I have a 97 switched over to Bilsteins and nned to take out the F45, they told me the samer thing, that i had to go down there so they can see if it can be done, so I went there today, the mecahnic hooked up the tech 2 and said he needed some sort of serial # from the techline so they are going to call me back and tell me if they can or cant, after searching the forum i think they should have been able to do it today. I will let you guys know what happens when they call.
If they cant shut off your F45 program... go to another dealership where they have people who know what they are doing with a Tech II.. It can and has been done for years at the dealership with a Tech II.

It should be possible. But I am supposed to be able to bleed the abs module on a 99 with my Tech 2, but the option to do so has disappeared from the Chassis menu. So maybe they do know what they are doing, and the latest SW for the Tech 2 is wacked.
Don't you program in the option list and flash the BCM? I'd like to see if there is an option code for DRLs that could be eliminated from mine.
I had the exact same problem adding the tire pressure sensors to my 02 Z06. One dealer swore up and down that it COULD NOT be accomplished! I even gave him the entire TECH II procedure write up off the forum!
I went to another dealer and they were able to do it! They charged me 1 hour labor, but with all of the rigamroe that i had to go through, I gladly paid it!
Ok dealer called me today, said they called techline and they can not do it, called another dealer and they said have to bring it down so they can look at it first, even though i tell them what i read here, they still act like its impossible to do. So i think i am going to get the simulators from LAPD, incase i ever sell the car the option will still be there.

I have a 98 with F45, Z06 shocks, bars, and Z51 springs. How does not having the F45 hooked effect me... of my car? The only code my car is throwing is for the Clutch, P0704 (not exactly sure what needs to be done there, replace a sensor?)
What do the simulators do? I do like having the console switch that I can set to "soft" when I'm on rough roads to make me feel better about my self.

caster,
We have a GM Tech II with the most up to date operating system loaded in it. We just updated it again on Tuesday. We do have the capability to take the F45 program out of your BCM, but it doesn't work on ALL C5s. Let us know if we can be of any help to you.
The reason why we carry the F45 simulators is for those C5s with F45 that can't be programmed out via the Tech II.
I have a 2001 Coupe that used to have F45 (haha I typed F$% at first). Hopefully your 2000 works the same way...
The way I got rid of F45:
1) Unplug the wiring harnesses in the rear of the car. Stand behind your car and open the hatchback/trunk. In the trunk area, in the small compartment on the left side are wiring harnesses that are behind the carpet on the side of that compartment that is closest to the driver. You must unplug the wiring harnesses.
2) Have someone like Shawn at LAPD (he took care of me) use the Tech II tool to take out the F45. Shawn charges a relatively small fee for this service. I don't know what the diagnostic test will cost but if you do what I've laid out, you will know with certainty one way or the other.
I didn't know that step 1) was necessary at first (the first shop that I didn't know about it)... If you try to use the Tech II without unplugging the wiring harnesses, it will look like the F45 is coming out and then it will pop right back up in a few miles. It is absolutely necessary to umplug the wiring harnesses if you want to use the Tech II. I prefer programming the F45 out cause then you don't have to mess with putting resistors in (that's much more expensive)...
Glad to hear you're getting rid of the F45--it sucks!

It IS true that they need to see your car first. The F45 function is a function of the BCM. A brand new BCM can be programmed, but after 50 ignition cycles (on-off,on-off) some functions of the BCM become non-programmable. They are not incompetant with a Tech II, they are just not sure if it can be done on your specific car. We have had cars at our dealership that can be reprogrammed and some that can not. Worse case is you may have to buy a new BCM and program that one. Good Luck!

Just curious, what version is the latest update? Mine has 25.010 in it, and like I said above, it is missing the ABS bleed option for my 99.
Just my $0.02 worth, but I understood that the only BCMs that you could deprogram were 01 and up, because it became an optional item when Z06s with Non-runflats debuted.
