Default Does the C5 take ordinary Power Steering Fluid?

I was going to do the old turkey baster method and replace all my fluid. Was just wondering if it takes ordinary power steering fluid?

Thanks so much.

I tried to buy the GM fluid called out in the owner's manual after my cam change, but was told it was superceded by GM Part #89021184. I never did find the one called for by the manual.

Power Steering Fluid and ATF are the same fluids, just differnt colors and GM Part #s

I use Mobil I ATF in my trans, diff and powersteering. No problems. Less fluids I have to keep around.

Not according to GM, they are totally different, and in the repair manual it calls for PSF not ATF. But if it works, then use it

GM makes a ton of money on selling parts and fluids. SO these two are labled differetly and the PS fluid has a purple color additive. But the fluids are identical.

and yes I ment in the diff Mobil I gear Oil.

It is like clutch fluid. It has its own part number but it is really DOT 3 brake fluid.

Some times I wonder if the floor boards in the vette are old box covers that parts came in. Oh wait. that was the Model T.
