Well in preparation for my dyno tune adjustment I finally broke down and did some Seafoam.
I ran one can in a full tank of gas this week.
Tonight I ran one can thru the manifold (didn't hydrolock..thank God)
I don't know whats going to happen tomarrow but I was getting all kinds of white smoke about halfway thru the can. I imagine its going to be CRAZY in the morning....
I will drive it hard and then go get the oil changed....I think right away is good. Would be nice to know how many miles to put on before changing the oil.
I am still wondering if this really does anything or if it just has the placebo effect on the people using it in their cars??
The GM decarb procedure is in fact a very very well used technique used at most GM dealerships to reduce ping and correct smooth idle complaints. Seafoam is a second choice to the more popular GM top engine cleaner. Unfortunately it is not legal in Cal. Doing this procedure properly is very important to the ultimate success of the procedure. Fogging and sitting 12 hours in very important to dissolve hardened carbon.

Here are some pics I took. It wasn't as awsome as I expected but the wind was sucking the cloud under the car!! The first pic was a couple of minutes after startup. The second was after about 7 minutes and driving it a couple of blocks.
Your results may vary. This car has AFR heads with about 10K on them but rest of car is at 57K. Plus I ran a full tank of gas with Seafoam first. I have to admit I was a little nervous doing this porceedure but won't be nect time.
I drove the car for about 15 minutes on the freeway 70-100 mph in 3rd gear (A4), RPM up to 4500. Stoped and checked that no smoke was coming from the exhaust. Got the oil changed which had less than 2500 miles. Oil did not look real dirty.
Car DOES idle more smoothly. I also noticed my gas milage seemed better by 1 mpg after running the Seafoam in the gas.
Thats all folks........thanks to all that have supplied me with info especially you ET

What is the step-by-step proper proceedure for decarbonization fogging??

Look like mine did when I did it...I have around 57K on it too..didn't change my oil because I was told it was not necessary because it was nt added to the oil...I put 1/2 can in the oil because I heard it quieted the startup clicking..changing it next week to Royal Purple oil.
