I'm having some tires mounted today....Is there something I should tell the guy to look out for...My car has these but I don't see anything different about the wheel....I'm new to the C5 deal so bear with me.....Thanks
there's nothing different about the wheel. the valve stem has a small plastic box attached to it on the inside of the wheel. just let the guy know that there are pressure monitors on the wheels. they shouldn't have to, but if they take the valve stems off you may have to replace the o-rings.
It is very easy to destroy your wheel sensors if the tech at the tire store does not know they are there, or worse does not know how easy they are to damage. To the trained tech, sensors are nothing, keeping the breaker bar away from them is important. Same as when installing the new tires.. I would make sure they were familiar with tire sensors. I have seen countless post here about inept tire techs destroying tire sensors. The worse thing is if they hit them with the breaker bar, you wont know anything until after you drive off... I would make sure that they know the tire monitor system is working prior to them touching your wheels. I mean actually show them the read out. I would then make sure before you leave the lot that they were working. I would Not leave the lot, but drive around until the sensors activated, verifying that they do indeed work.
I just got back from the tire place....The guy knew his stuff and explained /showed me how they do it with the sensors....I know who's doing the next ones for me

Awesome. You are lucky to have found a local tire servicer whom is knowledgeable and competent with remote tire pressure sensors. Hands down, it is important to call at least several tire service facilities in your area to see who has competent TPS experience. Also, ET is absolutely right. Most young tire techs don't even have a clue, nor, are experienced enough, and, destroy the tire pressure sensors when dismounting the tires off a wheel that has TPS, OR, they mistakenly re-install the sensors to the wrong wheel locations. However, sounds like everything finally worked out for you. Enjoy!
