LG Header craped out on me tonight WTH???
So I was driving home tonight from work and heard a LOUD boom and then the motor started making this tapping sound. So I stoped right away on the side of the road and the #3 primary on the right side header had a hole on it!!! Yes a hole... about 1/2 inch in diameter on the runner close to the flange.
Hope these pics work.
How am I gonna get this fixed now??? Does LG offer warranty on their products? Or do I have to contact the manufacturer?
This is not normal is it, I'm not even running nitrous or FI to get the headers that hot or anything!

Probably should talk to LG directly.
I am sure they will take care of you.

[QUOTE=Darkness]Yeah they have good customer service, but this is weird to happen though, and now I can drive the car

Can't see the pics, so can't be sure, but you could try to put a band clamp over the hole as a temporary fix, so you can drive. Cut a piece of steel exhaust pipe of the same diameter and big enough to cover the hole and hold it down with an ajustable radiator clamp

I see the pics. Talk to LG. If you don't want to mess with pulling the headers, maybe you can find someone local with a TIG to patch it up for you while on the car.

Nice quality header Those headers look pretty rusty and real old considering they are Stainless Steel. I would look for cracks on the other primaries and the other side header. There have been a few issues with the LG headers of late.

I had a similar problem with headers on my van. In my case it was caused by one cat falling apart and clogging the second cat. Too much back pressure equals high temps and header failure.
Your problem may be different, but check your cat.

This is what I'm thinking that happened, posted by an LS1tech member.

That looks like a brittle fracture (no deformation around the periphery) which would indicate the tubing had been improperly heat treated. It should be nice and ductile and if it was, there is no way a hole like that would result. Stainless steel is susceptible to embrittlement if the wrong grade is used for welded applications

I was thinking...did you warm the car up normally when this happened or did you start it up and go WOT within a few minutes? I'm wondering if the stainless got tempered in that area and throwing some serious heat into there quickly without letting the surrounding area warm up might have caused it.
Regardless it looks like something LG should resolve for you...that's NOT normal!!!

someone else posted a hole recently. He stated that he knew it was common on the older style LG headers and accepted it as that.
I am not sure what that means so I would call LG and ask them about it.
