Default keeping it going

1st builder who is out of business now charged $1800. The current shop where the car has been for 10 months is charging the same, but not sure if he is ever going to finish the replace part.

The ALLDATA time for R&I engine is 17.1 hours. This includes transferring fuel & electrical items only.

$1,600-$2,500 for engine removal and replacement is the rough going rate.

not sure why it's so [email protected]#$% i just did it twice and it was the easiest motor swap i have ever done!!! by far!!!! all the bolts came out no problem exhaust seperated without the need for a torch after exhaust was out it was smooth going... just make sure to remember to support the torque tube when dropping the front cradle as i know someone that did it in pa. and forgot to pull the motor forward a little and seperate from the torque tube and he wound up cracking the transmission flange!!!!! costly VERY COSTLY mistake

FYI future reference: Got appraisal for $1150 (23 hours @ $50/hour), but local GM dealer is more like $100/hour and estimated 17 hours. Mechanic, however, said he can usually do it in a day if everything goes smoothly.
