DIC Codes Question ???? Help C5 Tech / C4C5 Specialist....
I read the documentation on how to clear the DIC codes and proceeded to clear out all the codes my car as set since it was new... However, I have 2 codes under HVAC that will not clear. I wait for the Manual Diagnostics screen then scroll forward until I get to the codes, then hit RESET, and it shows NO CODES. Then I scroll back through to double check, and they are back again. I tried turning off the ignition then turning it back on and they are still there. All the other codes cleared like they were supposed to.
The 2 codes I have under HVAC are:
B0361 H C - Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND
B0441 H - Left Actuator Out of Range
Why aren't these codes clearing?? Are these codes something I need to have checked out? I have noticed on a couple occasions that my AC blows warm air for brief periods of time....
It is normal for A/C to put out warm air when accessing fault codes on the DIC on the 97-99.Considering that you have a 2001 and you are intermittently getting warm air while driving,I would suspect that you have a faulty left temp door actuator as indicated by the fault codes and the inability to clear them.I have replaced quite a few left actuators and this is somewhat common(never had to replace the right side)...Before you run to the dealer, you may want to disconnect the battery for a few minutes(radio off)and reconnect it to recalibrate the HVAC.This may correct the condition but more than likely you are looking at replacing the actuator in that it is probably sticking and not traveling to its correct position, resulting in the HVAC fault codes...
What is involved in changing out the left temp door actuator? Does this involve disassembling the dash?
I have only had it blow warm air 2 or 3 times over a 9 month period. I think I'll try disconnecting the battery first. Will this clear out all of my memory settings and Radio stations?
Well, it happened again at lunch today. I get in the Vette, and the air is blowing hot! This is the first time it's happened in a while, but seems funny since last night I was trying to clear the HVAC codes....While I was driving down the interstate, I cycled through the codes until I got to the HVAC, then hit reset, then the AC went completely off, but it finally cleared the codes. When I turned it back on, the air was blowing cold again...
Why would it clear the codes with me driving down the road, but not with the engine off sitting in the garage?
Does clearing out the codes actually help anything, other than just resetting?
