Glovebox latch and lock - removal/install?
Howdy all. I have to replace the glovebox latch assembly on my '99 C5. I have a new assembly ready to go and have removed the old one - piece of cake, 2 screws. I'm stuck at how to get the lock cylinder out of the assembly. There's no obvious way; so far I've been trying to push it through (from what would be inside of glove box to outside) but no joy, though I have not yet really applied major force. I'm at the stage where I might just Dremel-cut down the plastic surrounding the lock to free it up but was hoping somebody has done this before and can share.
I didn't find that it was addressed in the service manuals. TIA.

Try to take it out with the key in it. I think that this is a wafer style lock that has wafers pushed out in 2 different directions. You need to insert the key in the lock to create a shear line in the wafers and allow it to come out.
I am going to look at mine just to make sure.

Just went to look and it "felt like an opposed wafer type". BTW most GM cars have this type in the glove compartment.

Where did you get a new latch? I broke mine and was told (by Fred Beans) that I had to buy the whole glove box for $180. I sort of fixed it with dremel tool and a cable tie.
