Default Anyone make a "scatter shield" for the C5?

I know this topic has been discussed before with a few claiming that one is in the works....and that was quite a while ago. And so far i haven't seen any posts about one existing.

So does anyone know for a fact that one exists? if so where can i get one.

Thanks!

There are a few that exist. But their not anything to write home about.

I think "Cajundude"(I could be wrong though) has a scatter "Blanket" of sorts. I know its a special blanket material that wraps around and buckles. But I know NOTHING about it.

Also, the member "001 2001 Z06" has a steel scatter shield. I dont know who makes it though. I've personally seen it, but I couldnt tell you if it was worth anything.

ECS, has been working on one for quite some time. You might want to PM Chris or Doug and ask them about the progress.

Why not just blanket the floor and firewall with Kevlar sheets? then put the carpet right back over it.. If it can stop a bullet, why not bell housing shrapnel...

That sounds like a great idea. Where would one get the Kevlar sheets and the procedure to do it? I may be totally off base, but I think you may have solved a long time problem.

Thanks,

Placing Kevlar sheets over the outside of the tunnel is not going to help much. You will still need to worry about a chuck of flywheel or clutch wrapped in Kevlar taking your feet off! Placing that inside the tunnel would help a lot more but unless you can wrap it around and keep it tied down or together it will just fly along with the flywheel parts. All the trans blankets I have seen have straps that bolt under the bell housing bolts to keep everything held down and in place when something lets go. If just laid in there it will simply go flying with the part that let go.
