Or does a C5 radio (mine is a 2000 model coupe) get louder at highway speeds, like 60-70mph, maybe to compensate for the road noise. My wife noticed this first.
There is a SCV dial on the side of the volume ****! It has a few settings from low to high. It does compensate for road conditions and loud noises when you car speeds up! You can turn it all the way off if you desire by flipping it all the way to the bottom.
Thank you again, Matt. I must admit I haven't read the manual very much yet, except to try to figure out the key fobs programming. I will look for that switch. I actually think the automatic volume adjustment, if that is what it is called, is a very nice feature, it was just not expected. I'm used to all the manual controls in my previous vehicles. A guy could get spoiled pretty quickly with this.

Your hand book will tell you all about it!
Thanks,Matt
Thanks madmatt, always wondered what it was for just never got around to it.
Here is a version for you, years ago about 2001 to be exact, I bought a 1999 GMC Suburban from a Ford dealer that was traded in on an Excursion. The Suburban has this feature and I did not know it. The volume on the radio kept changing so I brought the truck back to Ford for warranty work (I know I know, this sounds idiotic). Long story short, Ford replaced the radio to fix a user complaint (me) about the inability to keep the radio volume constant Well of course the new one did it too, it was only then that I looked at the manual and found the SCV control
The really sad part of this story is that the vette stereo has had this feature for years- it was in the BOSE in my 93 C4- and probably earlier. Ya gotta read da manual.
Exactly. aka RTFM. The funny thing is that all these questions about AH/TC, memory seats, climate control, radio settings, lowering and countless other technological marvels that we have on today's cars, can all be answered within 5 minutes by looking in the manual. It some times takes hours or days to get an answer on the forum!
