You will find several opinions on LS1tech.com - many have installed it and provided feedback and dyno results.

A friend has just the MS3 and LS6 intake on his 2000 C5 and he put down 413hp/373tq. However its pretty lumpy down low and WILL require significant tuning to get it to run straight (some tuners can't tune this cam for drivability!). I went with a little milder G5X1 comp grind 228/232 becuase I wanted more drivability and torque under the curve.

Yeah my car with the MS3 is really lumpy I love it. Almost all the power is up top however. I am sure that if I threw on some new heads it would make a lot better numbers but I am happy the way it is now, everyone knows there is a cam in it when you hear it.

Would the MS4 make more power in the lower to mid range?

From what I have read at LS1tech...No.

Personally, I believe them both to be a poor cam choice unless you are just looking for lope to impress your buddies in the parking lot. I'd rather have a cam that made good drivabilty, strong midrange, and strong power.

I agree the MS4 as far as I can tell is a higher HP cam too. Like said above I chose the MS3 cam for good power gains and I loved the lope it makes on the 113LSA. I was not out looking for the fastest set up or I would have done heads too but I am happy with my 416rwhp on a mustang dyno.

You probably could have done around a 224/228 .581/.588 cam with a tight LSA such as a 112 or lower that would have loped good but created a quicker car even though it may have cost you a small horsepower loss at the peak.

Here's my 228/232 + PRC Stg 1 243's and LS6 intake, plus LG Street LT's and Z06 Ti's. LOTS OF TORQUE...MAKES A CAR FUN!

The MS4 and MS3 torque curves I have seen aren't as robust down low.

i made 437rwhp & 393rwtq with ONLY MS4, AR 1 3/4's, Tric, and tune! not bad in my eyes (of course i am partial) and the car has run 11.91@122 with 2.08 60ft wheelhopping on heavy 19x12 HREs. I am pretty happy with the performance, daily MPG avg is 16mpg and hwy 25mpg. there is some bucking, but all worth it
