Unless you just want to, or you have a persistent misfire, you probably don't need to change out the plugs/wires.
I swapped out my original set at 100K miles, and everything was fine then. I put in a set of copper NGK TR-55s, and ran them until just recently when I pulled them in the process of changing out a set of valve springs (148K miles). If I hadn't already bought a new set of TR-55s, I would have had no problem regapping them (the gap had grown around 6-7 thousandths over the 48K miles) and popping them back in. I did put a new set of OE wires while I was at it, due to damage to one of the wires.
I went with NGK TR55 copper-core plugs gapped at .060" and GM Performance 8mm wires. The copper-core plugs aren't supposed to last as long as the iridium but supposedly deliver a better spark. The wires fit perfectly and accepted the stock metal heat shields. Overall very happy with the setup and koolsox provided added protection against the heat from my headers...
where do you get the TR55 or TR6 Plugs at?-- GM Red Hot Wires or Performance wires at? Dealer?
