Was wondering what the experience was among forum members on longtube headers, specifically with regards to O2 sensor location? Has anyone had any issues with premature sensor failure due to incorrect orientation, or positioning?
I'm planning purchasing headers (brand?) and adding an additional boss for wideband measurement (or possibly replace one of the stock sensors) as well as bosses for exhaust gas temp sensors on both banks. Who has added similar instrumentatation with positive results, what brand of long tubes did you go with?
I was under the assumption - possibly an incorrect one, that O2 sensors don't like high temps (may not be an issue with long tube length to collector) or moisture (orientation).
I have Kooks LT's. I get the lazy o2 sensor code when I do a 3/4 (closed loop) throttle run up to 5000 rpm. No problems with light throttle or full throttle. I reflash with efilive and reset with no problems. I located two bungs on my x-pipe (before the cats) for the wideband sensor with good accurate air/fuel readings. My friend installed EG sensors on his headers. The instructions were specific on the distance from the exhaust valves. Good luck and have fun modding!!
